Reflections from Service Learning Trip to Cambodia

Here are some reflections from our guides who went overseas for the Cambodia Trip last November. :)

"We went to Sunrise Village for our CIP project. The children were really active. We taught them how to fold stars. The children were willing to learn it. We were so touched by the children."

"While passing the village I was also surprised at the poor living condition of the children and how many children were not at school and were wearing torn clothes or none at all."
By: Sivalingam Brintha (3E3)

"At our home stay we learnt how to make art and craft. Crafts like using beads to make dragonflies, we learnt how to stitch using cloth and cotton. This crafts I have never tried making before. It seems very nice to make. I enjoyed making the craft and if I have the time during guides I will teach my other friends."

"We went to Sunrise village to visit super friendly children. They keep holding our hands and show us around. I also saw the children there were discipline."
By: Seow Mei Qi (4E3)

"We have to wake up at 6.30-7.00 which I refused to do it. Afterwards, we went to a daycare centre at country side to teach English to the students there. It was really difficult as they were young and could not focus. I think the people living there is really poor and pityful."
By: Voon Li Ting (3E3)

"I went to the school, children didn't have proper electricity. I really admire the children who struggle for basic necessity but live their lives. It shows the differences between living condition there compare to luxurious lifestyle here. Thus, I learned that complain might be a small part of life, but complaining is not life."
By: Gayathiri (4E4)

"We went to an art school. The kids are very talented and they were independent. When the teacher is not around, they are very independent. When the teacher is not around. They were disciplined to do on their own. "
By: Jasmine Woo (4E3)

"I felt that this trip is really a good trip as I became braver and more independent."
By: Rachel Goh (3E3)

"The Cambodia Girl Guide help us to carry air luggage to the GGAC, I feel very thankful that she help us to carry our luggage as my luggage is very heavy."
By: Jasmine Fong (4N2)

"Phnom Penh looks like Malaysia. I feel that this trip to Cambodia was really meaning as we get to learn a lot of things."
By: Chan Hui En (2E2)
