Dear Guides,
Below are some proficiency badges we hope to engage you in, to attain them.
Please let us know if you are interested in any on friday, 12 September.
If you have any queries regarding the criteria(s), feel free to approach any of the Guiders, YA or CLs.

Reader
1. Read a book of any language written by one of the Eastern/ Western authors.
2. Choose and read a book, appropriate to any four of the headings.
- Science or Nature
- Travel or Exploration
- A Foreign Country
- History
- Biography
- A Book of Poems
*take note: One of the books have to be a Girl Guide Book from the GG Room.
3. Show how to use a book of reference snd the index of a book.
4. Read aloud a passage chosen by the tester.

Scribe
1. Keep a patrol log or minute book for two consecutive months
2. Keep accounts for a patrol or personal fund for two consecutive months
3. Hand print the Guide Law
4. Know how money can be sent through post, and how to write a cheque
5. At the test, prepared to write any of the following:
- A letter inviting neighbouring guides to spend an afternoon with her company
- A letter accepting such an invitation
- A letter explaining absence from a weekly guide meeting
- A letter of thanks for money received, either personally or on behalf of the company
- An order to a shop enclosing money
- An application for a post
6. Summarise a newspaper article usign not more than one-third of the words used in the original article

Singer
1. Sustain an alto part or descant while the tester or someone else sings the other part
2. Sing from memory, with or without accompaniment, two songs in contrasting styles and mood, from the following language medium: English, Chinese, Malay, Tamil
3. Sing one song of own choice
4. Sing at first sight, with or without words, a simple stepwise tune
Note: The following will be taken into account by the tester: quality of tone, clarity of words, style in delivery, vitality and swing in the rythem, selection of song.
*Tester would probably be a choir teacher/instructor.

What does HSS Girl Guides do?

The Girl Guides Singapore's mission is to eanble girls and young women to develop their fullest potential as responsible citizens of the world. In Henderson Secondary School, we work very closely with this mission. Being a Guide you can learn new skills, make your own decisions and not forgetting, have fun. Guiding in HSS provides a safe platform and environment to explore new possibilities and achieve personal goals while making friends and having adventures.

Girl Guides work together in Patrols. We elect our own Patrol Leaders and plan our own activities to eusure the total development of our girls.

The Guide Promise to us is very crucial and it is the pivot behind Girl Guiding:
