Name of event: Friday Girl Guides meeting
Name of venue: Henderson Secondary School
Time: 7.50am-11.30am
Date: 11.7.2008
Guides involved: Whole company
The meeting was held in the Henderson Secondary School.Firstly, we ran two rounds around the soccer field to build up our body stamina and we did stretching exercises to stretch our body. After feeling a little fit and flexible, we played dog and bone in the parade square. We divided ourselves into two groups and competed each other to see who is the winner. It was really very fun and exciting running and catching each other. We worked as a team. Finally, the thing we learnt was to work with team spirit and got to know each other more. After the exhausting morning exercise and games, we had our recess.
After the recess, the whole company gathered at the 2E3 classroom. Mang Teng taught us how to remove stains from clothes of different materials like cotton, silk and rayon. She also taught us how to wash clothes in what type of water, whether to use bleach, turpetine, methalyted spirit. She also taught us the the different labels in the collar of the clothes such as the tumble-dry, hand wash, etc and what type of iron to use such as hot iron, warm iron and the cold iron. As Girl Guides teach us how to be a good woman when we grow up, Mang Teng taught us how to keep a house clean and tidy like how to polish the furniture and how to arrange the furniture in the house that will give the house a neat look.
Mang Teng also taught us how to be a good pedestrian. She taught us the rules of crossing a road without traffic lights. After she taught us how to cross a road, there was a question and answer session . Then, Lakshmi gave us some homework in our logbook and also asked us to design our own dream room. It was the end of the meeting and we sang taps. From this meeting, we learnt lots of things like how to work within a team, how to wash and maintain clothes, how to keep the house clean and tidy and how to be a good pedestrian.
